FLIGHT LESSON 22: SOLO NIGHT--LOCAL

Objective: To increase the pilot’s confidence and proficiency in conducting a night flight. Parts 141 and 61 require 5 hr. in nighttime conditions, with 10 takeoffs and landings (each landing involving a flight in the traffic pattern) at an airport with an operating control tower. This requirement must be met during the three solo night flights--Flight Lessons 22, 23, and 28.

Completion Standards

The lesson will have been successfully completed when the pilot completes the solo night flight. The pilot will gain confidence and proficiency in night-flying operations, including takeoffs and landings at an airport with an operating control tower.
