FLIGHT LESSON 23: SOLO NIGHT CROSS-COUNTRY

Objective: To increase the pilot’s proficiency in the conduct of nighttime cross-country flights. This solo cross-country flight must include a landing at an airport more than 50 NM from the original point of departure.

Completion Standards

The lesson will have been successfully completed when the pilot can plan and conduct the solo nighttime cross-country flight using pilotage, dead reckoning, and navigation systems. During the postflight critique, the instructor will determine how well the flight was conducted through oral questioning.
