Completion Standards

The lesson will have been successfully completed when the pilot can demonstrate an understanding of VOR time and distance calculations and how to intercept and track a DME arc (if the airplane is DME equipped). Additionally, the pilot will demonstrate increased proficiency in VOR orientation, intercepting and tracking VOR radials, and attitude instrument flight. The pilot will be able to maintain the desired altitude, ±100 ft.; airspeed, ±10 kt.; and heading, ±10°; and to track a radial allowing no more than a 3/4-scale deflection of the course deviation indicator (CDI) or remaining within 10° in the case of an RMI.
