FLIGHT LESSON 15: GPS HOLDING

Objective: To introduce the pilot to GPS holding procedures and use of autopilot for holding (if equipped). Additionally, the pilot will increase proficiency in VOR holding and complying with ATC clearances and holding instructions.

Completion Standards

The lesson will have been successfully completed when the pilot can demonstrate an understanding of GPS holding procedures. Additionally, the pilot will demonstrate increased proficiency in copying and complying with ATC holding instructions, entries to holding, and VOR holding procedures. The pilot will be able to maintain the desired altitude, ±100 ft.; airspeed, ±10 kt.; and heading, ±10°, and to track a selected course or radial.
