Completion Standards

The lesson will have been successfully completed when the pilot can demonstrate knowledge in ILS instrument approach procedures. The pilot will display an increase in proficiency in conducting GPS and localizer instrument approaches, including partial-panel approaches. During the nonprecision approaches, the pilot will be able to

1. Maintain, prior to the beginning of the final approach segment, altitude, ±100 ft.; heading, ±10°; and airspeed, ±10 kt.; with less than a full-scale deflection of the CDI or within 10° in the case of an RMI.

2. Arrive at the MDA prior to reaching the MAP.

3. Maintain, while on the final approach segment, no more than a 3/4-scale deflection of the CDI or within 10° in the case of an RMI; airspeed, ±10 kt.; and altitude, +100/–50 ft. Additionally, the pilot will display proficiency in recovery from unusual flight attitudes.
