FLIGHT LESSON 25: CROSS-COUNTRY PROCEDURES

Objective: To increase the pilot’s ability to conduct IFR cross-country operations. This flight should include an airport that is at least a straight-line distance of more than 50 NM from the departure point and, if possible, an airport that has a radar approach.

Completion Standards

The lesson will have been successfully completed when the pilot demonstrates an increased proficiency in IFR flight planning, understanding and complying with ATC clearances, and conducting a cross-country flight under IFR. The pilot will be able to maintain the desired altitude, ±100 ft.; airspeed, ±10 kt.; and heading, ±10°; and to track a course or radial.
